Food Service Equipment Energy Rebates

According to a 2007 Foodservice Equipment & Supply report, 20% of foodservice operators cited Energy Efficiency as one reason for purchasing equipment. Many gas and/or electrical utilities offer rebates to their business customers for purchasing specific types of energy efficient food service equipment. Before you buy any new piece of food service equipment, look below to see if your state utility offers rebates.

California

Customers of California utilities PG&E, SCE, SoCal Gas and SDG&E, are eligible for rebates on energy efficient foodservice equipment:

Go to the Food Service Technology Center to see all qualifying manufacturers and models, and to obtain rebate forms. Rebates available for qualifying products purchased between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010. These dates may change if funds are depleted earlier.

Silicon Valley Power offers rebates on the following Energy Star® label appliances: Fryers, Holding Cabinets, Commercial Refrigerator/Freezers, and Steam Cookers.

New York

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority helps commercial and industrial facilities, including restaurants, non-profits, colleges, and schools to reduce energy costs within their commercial kitchens, including capital purchases that reduce energy, water consumption and costs.

NYSERDA is offering incentives on selected high efficiency commercial food service equipment. Incentives range from $30 to $1000, depending on the model, for these pieces of equipment:

Texas

Austin Gas Conservation Commercial Program
Texas Gas Service will give an incentive for the installation of high efficiency natural gas cooking equipment, such as water heaters, booster heaters, infra-red fryers, convection ovens, conveyor ovens and infra-red griddles.

Wisconsin

Focus on Energy Wisconsin offers incentives to eligible customers for businesses, schools, non-profit agencies and governments that purchase and install energy efficient food service equipment including ENERGY STAR® options.

Qualifying food service equipment:

These incentives are offered from July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010.
