ACityDiscount Visits New York For The IHMRS
The International Hotel, Motel and Restaurant Show (IHMRS) was held November 12-15, 2011 at The Javits Center in New York City. ACityDiscount took advantage of the annual IHMRS being held in New York to send not only management, but also sales and marketing staff to search for new products and to explore the sights of New York City.
Marty Stack, Executive VP, Hap Schneider, General Manager and Anthony Foster, Product Manager visited the IHMRS in search of new products. As a native New Yorker, Hap was familiar with New York and showed the rest of the group their way around. They attended the trade show, saw the sights including Freedom Tower and The Empire State Building, witnessed the Occupy Wall Street Movement and even managed to squeeze in a short visit with SpongeBob Squarepants on Time Square!
Of course no trip to New York would be complete without a visit to a New York staple, Lombardi’s. In 1905, Lombardi's was licensed by the City of New York, becoming America's First Pizzeria. Lombardi’s has been serving up pies for over 100 years and is still coveted as one of the best pizzerias, not only in New York, but also in the United States. The crew at Lombardi’s gave the ACityDiscount team the rare opportunity to step into the very busy kitchen to see the country’s oldest pizza oven.
The IHMRS was host to 700 hospitality industry suppliers and approximately 30,000 trade attendees. During the IHMRS, our team visited the booths of some of the food service industry’s leading manufacturers and our current suppliers including Tor-Rey, Hatco, Turbo Air, True Manufacturing and Scotsman Ice Machines. We also met with prospective manufacturers of pizza ovens, commercial sinks, and commercial ovens. Stay tuned as we announce new additions to our product offerings over the next few months.
